INN ON THE VUMBA

The Inn on the Vumba, high in the Bvumba Mountains, overlooks a valley forming the border between Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Although the Inn on the Vumba is only a short 10 minute drive from Mutare, the view across the lush, green countryside and Vumba Mountains will make you feel as if are in a remote spot in Zimbabwe.

The Inn on the Vumba is a good overnight destination if you plan to visit other areas in Zimbabwe such as the south-east lowveld, Great Zimbabwe, Hot Springs and the Chimanimani Mountains.

The Inn on the Vumba is a smaller boutique hotel in  Bvumba Mountains, and has been operating since July 1991, making it a well-established part of the tourism sector in Zimbabwe. Guests are accommodated in four 2-bedroom cottages and 18 standard bedrooms. The cottages as well as the standard bedrooms are all en-suite and are decorated to reflect a rustic country atmosphere.  Our cottages offer self-catering ( self contained ) accommodation with all amenities needed.

There is no satellite TV, direct-dial telephone or internet access in your room or cottage – rather focus on the magic surroundings of the Inn on the Vumba in Zimbabwe and let the fresh air of the Bvumba Mountain revitalise your soul. Thanks to the cooler climate of the Bvumba Mountains, mosquitoes are not a problem and therefore the Inn on the Vumba does not offer mosquitoe nets. 

The Inn on the Vumba has acquired a firm reputation in Zimbabwe for it's a la carte lunches and table d’Hôte dinners. Our cocktail bars serve a selection of drinks to quench any thirst. Relax in one of the two, where a roaring log fire will take care of any chilly evenings in the crisp mountain air of the Vumba Mountains..

The Inn on the Vumba offers a swimming pool and tennis court set in a well-kept garden for guests who want to enjoy a quiet day. However, if you would like to explore the surrounding Bvumba Mountains of Zimbabwe, you can enjoy hiking, game drives, bird watching, or visit the Mbiga Falls, Bvumba Botanical Gardens, Bunga Forest Botanical Reserve, Hivu Nursery, Mutare Museum, Mutare Heights, Lake Alexander and the Smallbridge Dam. The Cecil Kop Game Reserve and the La Rochelle Gardens are also in the close vicinity of the Inn on the Vumba.

The Inn on the Vumba is close to another famous landmark, namely the Leopard Rock Hotel. Here you can visit the Leopard Rock Casino with it's poker machines, roulette, Black Jack, Punto Banco and Chemine de Fer, or play a round of golf on Tiger Woods’ favourite golf course.

ZIMBABWE

The Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe cover two mountains. To the south of Mutare is the Vumba Mountains where you will find the Inn on the Vumba. To the north of Mutare is the Nyanga Mountains and here you will find the Troutbeck Inn hotel and resort a popular destination for families. From the Inn on the Vumba it will take you 3 hours to reach the Great Zimbabwe monument which was previously known as the Zimbabwe Ruins. Norma Jeane's Lakeview Resort is near the Great Zimbabwe Monument and offers both excellent hotel accommodation and very spacious self-catering ( self contained ) accommodation. Your next stop might be Bulawayo where you can stay in the famous Churchill Hotel 5 km from Bulawayo CBD onroute to the Matopo National Park.

BOTSWANA

In Gaborone, the capital city of Botswana, Inn on the Vumba recommends the Cresta Lodge and in Botswana second city the Marang Gardens hotel which is known for its beautiful gardes, excellent service and position near the CBD of Francistown. In the Chobe Kasane region we recommened the well known Chobe Safari Lodge on the banks of the Chobe River and next to the Game reserve with the same name. If you plan a visit to the Okavango Delta after your stay at inn on the Vumba you will most likely overnight at the Khama Rhino Sanctuary an eco-tourism destination near Serowe.  Khama Rhino Sanctuary offers self-catering ( self contained ) accommodation. Your next stop will most likely be Maun the gateway to the Okavango Delta. In maun is numerous lodges such as Island Safari Lodge, Maun Lodge and Rileys Hotel to name just a few.

NAMIBIA

Inn on the Vumba are proudly associated with a few lodges in Namibia. In Swakopmund we recommende the luxury Swakopmund Hotel and Entertainment Centre and in the Damaraland the Vingerklip Lodge which is the nearest lodge to the magnificent Vingerklip rock.

SOUTH AFRICA

Ask them to arrange your South African accommodation. if you plan a visit to Cape Town you will most likely overnight in Bloemfontein which is halfway between Inn on the Vumba and Cape Town.
